I had the pleasure of photographing Jerry and Cheryl's wedding at Cedar Creek Estate Winery a few weeks ago. Such a beautiful location and although we were in a slight fight with the skies that day...nature was on our side and the sunshine took over.

The day was completed, enjoying great company with a fabulous reception at The Harvest Golf Club. Wonderful food, amazing location and the DJ services of Dave Shannon Music.

Thank you Jerry and Cheryl for being most fantastic. You are one rockin' couple and have the greatest families. I was truly honored to be a part of your day.

It's that time. Changes are coming I tell yah. The reason...well...I am just not lovin' the limitations of blogger. So, I am going to try another route! Yay. Very excited and will be working on a new look in my "free time". Hoping to debut it sooner rather than later...

Oh and for those who know how often I change my mind. I am only talking about the blog...dont worry...I am still totally loving my logo!

I am aware that some people are having issues commenting and I am sorry for the frustration is causes. I know it would drive me nuts! No idea why it happens...but I am working on the solution.

I love everything about summer. The sunshine. The beaches. The smell of Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen. My birthday week [yes I said week]. Its the time of year that just brings a smile to my face and I wish it would never end.

Of course it is also a reminder of change. The kids finish school, graduate a class and move forward. This year was a big one for our oldest girl as she graduated grade 5 and is now heading to middle school. She will no longer be able to walk down the hill as she did this year or call me for surprise lunch dates [they will be missed]. So much change in so few days, but I really cannot help but be excited for what the future holds. Haley, you are an amazing young lady. We are so very proud of you and all that you have accomplished. Your "G's" were the icing on the cake. We just adore you.

I was able to snap this one as she was rushing in to grab her shoes for the big day. I begged her for a quick moment in front of my camera. I received a sweet smile and nod...then rushed to capture her in all her beauty. Six photos were taken. This one I love.

This "growing up" thing is getting a little old. ha.

Simon graduated (hehe) from his first year of pre-school this past Tuesday. I dont even know how we got here so quickly? But I do know that I am insanely proud of him.

Things started off a little rough. Tears were shed and leg grabbing was frequent. I of course was sad for him. As the time passed it turned into quick kisses and smiling waves, I of course was sad for me. The little boy who needed me so much was growing up.

On Tuesday I stood alongside my husband as we both beamed at all that he had accomplished. He walked into the room with his class, spotted the brother that he so adores and made a run for him! He was not in the least bit shy or nervous. The time came for the class to show off their singing skills and he belted out Herman the Worm like no bodies business. He skipped on the next song and then rocked his Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. We smiled.

Thank you to Miss Heather & Miss Kirsten from Learning for Little People for allowing Simon to be a part of your class. I have watched him change so much over these months. He truly enjoyed his time with you.

Of course, here are a few snaps of the man baby, one of his many nicknames. If only we could freeze time.

George + Ranette :: After

The weather was absolutely perfect for our "after" session last night. Actually, everything about the session was perfect...

George and Ranette were married nearly a month ago. Michele and I were fortunate enough to be a part of their wedding day, however after a little misunderstanding we never did share the photos. Now, that is not like either of us as we both love blogging our latest. So I am making up for it now!

Here are a few from last nights session...George and Ranette, you did a fabulous job. Ranette you are a stunner and really know how to work it without much direction at all. Love that. George, thank you for putting up with us. ha. You do have that perfect camera ready expression. So thank you both.

Nick + Heather :: Engaged

We ventured out to Naramata, BC last night to photograph this couple in some amazing locations that Heather herself scoped out. Beautiful grass fields, an incredible clay bank and of course a old barn area complete with cattle in the distance. Thank you Heather for taking the time to find such fantastic spots. We always enjoy shooting in new places!

You were both too much fun. The inside jokes and of course the thought of possibly having to outrun a bull...sure did make this session that much more interesting. I do hope that you enjoyed your engagement session as much as I did.

Michele, thank you as always for allowing me to be a part of this session. Good times.

The weather was not on our side for this one. A storm was creeping in and was leaving me a touch concerned on whether or not we would be able to stay ahead of the rain...

I was able to tag along with Michele and I am so glad that I made the drive to meet up. If you have not noticed, I very much love second shooting. I love those moments that may otherwise be missed and the details that you are able to capture from another perspective. Luckily for me, Michele is always kind enough to have me tag along and get those bits.

Thank you Denzer and Connie for being so fantastic in front of the camera. You sure made our jobs easy! Of course, thank you to Michele for allowing me the chance to hang out and have a little fun with you all. Much appreciated.

I get no more than a moments notice and poof...we are onto something new. Only a week ago I noticed that our Mi-Miss was cutting 2 of her 4 molars...2 days ago, I noticed another coming in. Just like that.

Tonight she spent much of the evening hauling around with her walker and I know its coming...I just know I am going to turn around and watch my sweet baby girl turn into a toddler and feel as though I got nothing more than a moments notice.

Many things have reminded me these past few weeks of how fortunate I am to have all that I do. To take a moment and really appreciate it all, the good and of course the moments that we could all do without. I wish I took more time to really enjoy those good moments as they seem to pass so quickly and before you know it, the days turn into months and you flash back wondering where the years went. Luckily, these little faces have reminded me that it all goes too fast and although you never know what tomorrow might bring...today is what really matters...

Last night I had the pleasure of taking part in something that is very rare for most mothers. A girls night. This girls night however, was to celebrate something a little extra special...Michele's 30+1 birthday. [happy birthday chickie]. Things of course got a little carried away, as they often do when you say the word PARTY around Michele. But of course, it was all worth it and ended up simply stunning...just as expected.

This is one amazing group of woman and I am so thrilled to be able to count myself as their friend. Thanks to each and everyone of you for sharing in the wonderful food, fancy drinks and of course...interesting conversation. A special thanks to Simone & Dom for hosting (Dom for the construction of the wonderful sitting area you will see below [yes he built that entire thing. CRAZY.]...and for some incredible snacks) and also to Michelle from Cin Cin Events for much of the decor...beautiful.

Again, happy birthday Michele...I hope that this year is filled with nothing but the best things that life has to offer. Here's to another year of enjoying all of lifes special bits and watching our kiddies grow together.

It is not every day that you come across a couple that is completely up for anything! Styling, outfit changes and putting up with our location searches. Fortunately for me, I was able to tag along [thanks much Michele] for such a session and I have to say, it was insanely worth it.

Both Mike and Cara were fantastic! The fact that they were up for anything, really gave us the freedom to be creative. Thank you both for making your session so enjoyable, I feel honored to have taken part in this portion of your upcoming marriage. You two really know how to work it!!

Beautiful dresses, perfect light and three amazing girls. What more could I possibly ask for?

While we ventured out for some photos of Isla on her birthday, it only seemed natural to take advantage of the situation and grab a few of Michele with her little ladies. I do wish someone would have captured a behind the scenes as my birthday girl was 10 shades of angry and grabbing at me with all her might. hehe. Can you say diva? But these girls did not let that phase them, and although Miss N was not feeling up to being in front of the camera, I am thrilled with the results.

Hope that you like them Mish. You are one stunning mama...inside and out. I am so fortunate to have you as a friend and of course to be a part of watching two very precious young ladies grow. [Yes, I had to get a touch sappy on you.]

I never paid much attention to time until I watched it pass in the moments of a child. The moments that marked something new and exciting truly seemed to make the time pass much faster. The first smile was followed by rolling over, then came sitting and before I could even take it all in...she was crawling. The coo's, the chatter and the bitty fits she would throw when I was more than two feet from her all seem to have arrived in a blink. I was just holding this tiny new baby in my arms and today I celebrate her first birthday.

One Year. One entire year full of all things baby. I am so excited to see what this next year brings and watch this bitty little Mi-Miss personality develop. But today, I am going to allow myself to be just that little bit sad knowing that my sweet baby girl is now One and that year of babyhood is going to be lived in photographs and memories.

Happy birthday sweet Isla, we love you more than words.

It seems as though only yesterday I was pregnant and anxious to meet our newest addition. As if only days away from entering the hospital to have our sweet baby girl...and now here I am facing her first birthday. Four days. Four days until our Mi-Miss turns ONE...May 27th @ 8:14am to be exact. The emotions are starting to be felt. Of course joy for all the days and years I have to look forward to, the many incredible moments that are ahead...although I would be lying if I left out the part mentioning how my heart aches a little. I do miss that folded up squishy baby girl, those "first" moments and of course a tiny baby in my arms.

This little lady has brought more joy to our lives than we could have ever imagined. She is personality plus and is truly a gift. The perfect piece to complete our family. I am grateful to have her in our lives and cannot imagine it any other way. I just adore our scrunchy nosed, sassy little mama's girl...

And because everything is a little better with a photo. Here she is playing in her crib, blankets have been tossed and all the bumper shoved down. She just loves her comfy bed!

Last week I was invited by Michele to tag along for this session. I was not going to be able to make it as I had a scheduling conflict...[meaning no one to watch the wee ones]...but luckily, the husband arrived home just in time and am I ever glad he did. What an amazing couple! Talk about natural in front of the camera...love it. It was everything we could have possibly wanted out of an engagement session. So thank you Tyler and Nicole for being such an incredible couple.

A little less actually and well...my heart is aching. The thought of this year going by so fast saddens me.

I am of course excited to find out what the future holds...I just wish I could keep her all things "baby" a little bit longer. hehe. Those sweet little fat rolls, chunky feet and ma's, da's & coo's...oh just a little longer.

I think she might be getting sweeter by the minute!

I had the pleasure of photographing one week old Miss "C" today and I must say, she is every bit of gorgeous! I have known the mama for many years and I was very honored to have the opportunity to get this bitty beauty in front of my camera.

Luckily she slept most of the time, although she snacked pretty much non-stop. hehe. Hey a girls gotta eat! Of course, babies love to keep the surprises coming and today I found out that not all newborns LOVE hats. Who knew? This miss wanted nothing to do with any form of material that touched her head. They truly do come with a built in personality!

Thanks again Alana...she is simply perfect. Oh and sorry about the "wee" mishap. Of course, thank you to mister Nick as well...you are going to make one awesome big brother!

I never imagined how quickly the years would pass. The wee little baby that I brought home from the hospital is already THREE. It feels as though I have only blinked and poof...the years are gone.

How would I best describe this wee wonder? Hmmm. All boy and full of mischief would about sum it up. Three has already brought us a nail polish incident [which fortunately was kept to only his body], a climbing mishap which left all of my folded laundry in a heap on the floor and the mister on a high counter. As if that wasnt enough...it seems that a sampling of Grumpa's [our version of Grandpa] deodorant was required. So he quite aggressively applied that to his torso and was left weeping for band aids.

The best part...

That was all in ONE day.

I am sure that three will bring far more challenges than I can even imagine or prepare for. Truth is, I am ready to embrace each and every one of them.

It seems I just cannot help but love this face.

A few more of the sweet twins I had the chance to photograph recently. Talk about two girls with entirely different personalities!

Miss "K" was the feisty babe that was more interested in checking out all that was going on than having a snooze for us and of course her sister chose to prove that it could be done...Miss "R" slept most of the afternoon and was happy to allow us to maul her. Luckily we were able to capture at least a few of the girls relaxing. It was quite the day!

Thank you again Genevieve, I can only imagine how tired you must be. Enjoy every moment of your little ladies. Also thanks again to Michele, I could not have done this one without you!

Twins. Yes Twins. I have never had the opportunity to photograph twins and could hardly wait to have two wee ones to maul!

I have to admit though, this was a tough one. Two babies sleeping at the same time? I would love to know how others do it. It seems we only had a few fleeting moments of two sleeping babes. As hard as we tried, one little miss just was not up for a snooze!

It was a challenging but rewarding afternoon. This little lady simply did not care for the idea of sleepy, squishy poses! Four hours of snuggles, milk, rocking...the works and we were finally able to get what we were looking for. It may not have been easy, but I am loving the result.

Thank you to all that helped. Simone for being supermom and taking on all of the kiddies for us and of course mama Lindsay who was sweet enough to keep Michele's little lady happy and allow us to do our jobs. We could not have done it with out you ladies!

Now to the good bits. Hope you love them Linds...she is such a bitty sweetheart.

Today Michele and I were able to photograph this sweet baby girl and although things did not go exactly as planned, I am thrilled with a couple of the images. If you are ever told that photographing babies is easy, they are not being honest with you! ha.

This little lady is the daughter of the lovely mama below, Lindsay of Heiress Salon & Boutique. Thank you Lindsay for sharing your little sweetie with us today, I could have snuggled her for the entire afternoon! I am crossing fingers that she is a happy girl and is willing to put up with all of our mauling this Wednesday.

I am not the only one that has had some major changes lately. Take a look at the lovely brunette I had the pleasure of photographing. Hello!

When Michele arrived home as a brunette it took a few days for it to sink in. Especially considering I am pretty sure she was still in shock...but I have to say, I LOVE IT. The colour is amazing and look at those eyes...incredible!

Only 6 weeks post baby Eve and already in front of the camera looking fabulous. I know she may not feel 100% ready for photographs yet, but for what its worth I think she looks absolutely fantastic. Now just wait until that sunshine comes out and we can get back to working outside...where we both feel at least a touch more comfortable on the other side of the lens.

On another note. Michele and I were just discussing the tight facial crop the other day. I am a fan of this crop and recently saw another fantastic photographer use it. Andrea Hanki of Pink Sugar Photography. Love her work. So I thought I would give it a try...of course, this was without knowing Michele was doing the same thing! Great minds.

Changing.

Change is something I am fond of. Well, at least in certain areas of life! The logo was a large step in the right direction for me...and although it took some prompting, it seems a change of look in another area was required as well. Cutting off my hair was not exactly the plan, but I could not be happier and actually may never grow it out again! I LOVE it. LOVE.

Of course this also meant that new photos were required. I am fortunate enough to have an amazingly talented friend who is able to put up with all of my goofiness and attempts to work my Tyra. Although some of these photos look entirely effortless, trust me when I say they are anything but. She had her work cut out for her.

I had the honor of hosting Michele's arrival shower back in March and must admit, I LOVE party planning. It drives the husband nuts as I just don't know when to stop myself...but hey, that's the fun of it all.

The theme was a vintage tea party of sorts. I used my grandmothers china, a beautiful lace table cloth that I scooped up at the second hand store and I hand made all the birdies as favors. Okay, the birds might have put me overboard, but I totally loved making them. Of course finding a branch for the birds proved to be a little dramatic...but it all worked out. I also cut the letters out for Eve's name and stuck them to ribbon, and then onto the newly painted walls. hehe. Anything for a great party!

Added bonus, Isla's first birthday is in May and I am mainly going to rework this theme. Why not right?

Thanks again to Lindsay of Heiress Salon & Boutique for being such an amazing model. You are always a pleasure to photograph. Even with a belly, you are up for anything. I just have to love that!

I was set to go solo on this shoot as Michele was out of town and sent it my way. Luckily she made it back and we were able to work together (which I love). Miss Eve tagged along in her stroller and that girl is officially a photographers daughter. She slept almost the entire time!

On a side note...I wish I was half this stylish when not pregnant. ha.

At least that is what it feels like. I can remember as a child thinking that the years of school would NEVER end. The days seemed to last forever and every birthday seemed to have an eternity in between.

Flash forward to having my own kiddies and it seems the days are never long enough and the birthdays of course come far too quickly. Although, I am sure that my kids feel the way I did as a child and they can hardly wait to grow up!

This post is to make note of how big our baby girl is getting. It seems as if I closed my eyes for a moment and poof...she turned 10 months!? Sigh.

This Friday our sweet miss Isla will be only 2 months shy of her first birthday. I am of course loving every second...the way she now claps when we say "hooray", her first real sounds of "ba ba ba", how her tiny tongue pops out of her mouth on command and of course how she fake coughs after mama.

I just find it hard to believe that she is growing so quickly and knowing that she is our last is making it the tiniest bit sad...

Someone please give me a newborn to photograph! hehe.

If the experience of creating a logo has taught me anything...it may just be that I am really not as desisive as I had originally thought! I had a vision in my mind, but really had no idea how to put it to paper and have it express who I am not only as a photographer but as a person. I will never again under estimate the work that goes into something such as a logo. I will also never again hesitate to hire someone who is able to handle all my craziness.

A big thanks to Lindsay Perry of Perrywinkle Design. Not only was she able to put together my amazing logo, she was also able to put up with all of my insanity. She continued to push forward until I was 100% happy and "in love" with the end result. Thank you so much Lindsay, I look forward to a continuing friendship and possibly a little letterpress! A girl can hope cant she? hehe.

I see big things with my new look. I have already been working on colour variations for my business cards and can hardly wait to get something in print...I think I am going to get all of these! I just cannot help myself...

I have no idea how I got here? The mother of a near three year old boy. I can say one thing for sure...those years when by in a blink. Sigh.

This face is now a rare occurrence on my blog...not because I want it to be, simply because he has it out for my camera and trickery. hehe. I felt it was time to give him a little blog love so that he does not one day look at my work and wonder where he went! Does he look like a big boy or what...

Its not that I dont try to get photos of the older kiddies...they are just far less willing participants in my photo set ups! Do this, do that, turn your head, move into the light...I am sure they are thinking "is she ever NOT bossy?" ha.

The girls of this house are always my most willing by far. Of course, I am excited for the weather to change so that we can get back outside and into fun outfits, cherry blossoms and open fields. Spring cannot get here fast enough!

In the meantime, I was able to wrangle this one in for a mini shoot to show off her new cut. We are totally loving the shorter hair! Although...it sure does make her look so much more grown up...sigh...

It seems as though our sweet miss miss just arrived into the world...but truly we are closer to celebrating her 1st birthday than we are to welcoming her. Already moments are becoming a blur and it makes me realize how much I need to appreciate every little thing she does.

Okay...maybe not the screaming. But that is rare! Oh and whom am I kidding, I even love that little screech. Her personality is starting to show and I just adore it. She just melts my heart over and over again...maybe its something about knowing that this is our last...

I am sure many of you are wondering what has happened to my other children...ha. They are here, just far less camera friendly! I will have some of the others to share very soon!

Eve was the perfect sleeping beauty and seriously did not fuss the entire time. She let us completely maul her, switch hats, wrap her and unwrap her with no real fuss. Yup, the perfect squishy little miss...

Of course I was not able to stay away for long! Mama & babe arrived home late Monday night and I was knocking on her door by Tuesday afternoon [with permission of course].

Since I will be out of town for a few days, I wanted to be sure to capture a few more of those itty bitty moments. So happy that I did. This girl is just precious and has the most adorable little expressions...melts my heart. A full shoot will be done sometime this weekend, and I can hardly wait.

I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful little lady only minutes after she arrived into the world. My wonderful friend Michele along with her family welcomed the adorable miss Eve yesterday at 3:40pm and I must say she is every bit of perfect!

I arrived to a serene room with soothing music, dim lights and a glowing mama holding her precious daughter. It was peaceful, and a moment that I will always hold dear. I was flooded with emotion and could not hold back the tears, so I didnt. Apparently I also proceeded to ask the weight of miss Eve...three times. I was just so overcome with the beauty of this much anticipated new life that I paid no mind to the answer...which by the way was 8lbs 1oz.

Michele, thank you for allowing me to be a part of such a special moment in your life. I look forward to being a part of many more to come and feel so very fortunate to have you as a friend.

Of course, what would this sappy post be without photos. The moment seemed best suited by black & whites...however I did tack on a colour photo to show off that beautiful blonde hair!

No not like that!

I love natural light, its my fav. Although, I am biased as I really do not know much about flash of any sort. Totally wanting to learn though! So this weekend I decided to pull out my new flash, close the bedroom blinds and see what I could figure out. I am one of those "hands on" learners. However, I would love a teacher!

Far from knowing exactly what I am doing...but everyone starts somewhere! Any flash pro's that would like to share tips, I am all ears. I sure these are far from technically correct, I can of course see things "wrong"...but all things considered I am pretty happy with my second try.

Of course, my usual model was used. hehe.

Its been a long winter and one which has kept me inside working on working without doing much work. Make sense?

Fortunately, I have an in house model who has only recently begun to protest. At least I got a good 8 months out of her! Now that she is moving at rapid speeds across my living room and chewing on anything and everything she can get her wee hands on, things have proven to be a little more difficult. Ah well, its a good thing she is so darn cute. And although I am sure some of you may be sick of my "miss miss" photos by now...she is a huge part of who I am and in turn frequents my blog.

I have spent much of my winter free time trying to get my business ideas in order. So much in my head and not enough paper in the house to get it all down! Things are far from where I have envisioned them, but slowly getting there...

I am again working on branding. Logo, web design etc. and quickly learning how little I know about computers. HTML is no longer my friend! As for a logo, I have a vision in my head...however getting it created seems to be an entirely different story. Who knew it would all be so complex. Okay, I did. But that is beside the point. hehe.

In the meantime, I gave my header a little face lift. Thanks to Michele for the photo...love it. Michele is due to have her baby February 14th, but I am thinking positive thoughts and hoping the wee one will make an appearance promptly! Cannot wait!

On another note. Weddings. I am taking only a select few this year. So if you are thinking about making a booking, please contact me as soon as you have a free moment. I only have a few spots left!

Right around the 6 month mark I recall thinking "she is actually going to grow up". YIKES! Right then, I knew that having a few photos of the myself and the miss as her personality emerged...were ultra important to me. Of course, busy lives got in the way and somehow we waited until Michele was nearly due with her own baby [I can hardly wait], to set up a session!

Thanks so much Michele for taking the time to snap these for me. I know that I will not be able to keep the miss miss little forever, but at least I now have these to cherish as she grows.

We always chat about having sessions together with the kids...however it rarely happens. Truth is, when it does...its CHAOS! Michele & Miss N came over today for some girl time in front of and behind the camera. Now I know all you ladies are going to ask..."where did she get that shirt"? Oh yes, I am in line to get one as well...and when you find out where it was purchased, you are going to rush out and get one for every little girl you know [hint hint, I would like it in a 1 & 2 if you are asking...our store was all out]. Note that I am looking for blog love in order to find the store location. Shameless I know!

Of course we had fun, but man oh man...when little ones are involved, practically no light is available in the bedroom and you are attempting to hold a reflector with your toes...things become work in a hurry! By the time we were done, the bedroom looked as though a group of toddlers had been left to their own devices. hehe.

I have not had much of a chance to go through everything from the day...but at first glance I found some that are very much loved and couldnt help but share. Now dont be surprised if a few more surface over the next few days...

Since I have been slacking in the way of "real" photo shoots...I figured I would share some random thoughts about my work.

This weekend I will be behind the camera for an exciting shoot with Miss Michele. You will be able to see that belly in all its glory and ladies...it is a belly to see. Michele looks amazing! Hopefully it will warm up a touch for us by Sunday, but we will tough it out either way.

In other business ramblings, I am doing the usual and working on far too many things at once. Packaging, prepping, forms, business cards etc. Its time to really focus and get it together...time to listen to that little voice in my head [usually my husband] and set aside real hours to WORK! Sigh. The creative parts of me just don't like to be tied to time...but I think he may actually be right on creating a schedule. [I may have to delete that last sentence as he reads my blog.] Ha.

So that is all things Me at the moment. Nothing too crazy. Just workin' away and trying to get into a groove. Of course I wont leave you without a little photo of one of my fav models...she is growing way too fast...teeth 3 & 4 are coming in!

For what? The arrival of my fancy new canvas...YAY! I am so bad at placing orders for my own photos. One would think my house was wallpapered with them...but you would be wrong. Not a single photo on these walls. WHAT? Its ridiculous.

So today I plan to "BE BETTER" at getting a plan in order for my walls and placing some orders. That is my January goal! Someone...please hold me to it!

Just before Christmas I received a surprise gift in the mail. It was from an Auntie of mine [my grandmother's sister]. I tore it open [as I love surprise presents via post]!

I immediately smiled. She had knit a sweater for the little Miss and I adore it. She truly could not have sent an item that I could have possibly held more dear than a sweater she made especially for miss miss. It warmed my heart. So thank you Auntie "G"...it means the world to me and I will cherish it always...

The New Year always gives me that fresh feeling. A clear slate, a start to something unknown. I love it! Of course it is also the date that I married the most amazing man alive.

However I have never been one for the tradition of resolutions...they are hard to keep and I always feel as though I am only setting myself up to let myself down later. Honestly, we all put the highest expectations on ourselves...sheesh. As we rang in the New Year I really got to thinking...what can I resolve to do for 2009?

So, I resolve to be better. Just better. Learn more, love more, understand more...and just be all around better at everything I do. No real expectations, just to bump it all up a notch.

Here's hoping 2009 brings you all something a little better...

We have all had them. The ones that just dont seem to go quite right. Today I must admit, I am not in the best of moods. Woke up feeling horrid, tried to keep up with a crazy toddler and sad baby miss all day...and well, I am just plain worn out and having...

What is it? Just a little boy trying to bring a smile to his mommy's face. I could not stop laughing. Funny how someone so very small can remind you to shake that feeling and take a second to enjoy all the day has to offer...

I am sure many photographers would say the same...photographing kids is not always easy. The toss to keep ratio is HIGH! Children have their own agenda and more than likely, you are not top of the list.

I find with my own children, its far worse...they just love pushing my buttons...

I set up for a few photos of the wee ones last week in order to get that one amazing shot to send to all the fam of them in their Christmas gear. It didnt work so well...but I was able to scoop this oh so classic "help my brother is mauling me" photo. Have a few more to share, but they will not surface til the new year as I dont want to ruin any Christmas surprises!

The chairs...oh the chairs. I cannot tell you how much I love them! I have two and they proudly sit in my great room. They belonged to my grandmother. They are a fantastic golden colour. They are spectacular! They could use a little love...but I just cannot seem to bring myself to changing a thing about them...okay maybe the sharpie mark that Simon tagged the one with during our move...boys...

Looking back has totally warmed my heart! I adore going back through photos that were once passed over, tossed a side...simply "didnt quite make the cut".

I have an obsession with holding onto photos...if they are not a total toss, I will often keep them. At times I have what looks to be 10 of the same image...but I just think of how i may see it in a different light a few weeks later. I am sure that this also comes with developing a style. I will often have an idea, snap the shot, not totally love it....but something tells me to keep it. At times I will then go back and think "how could I have ever pass it over"!

I thought this time of year would a fantastic time to look back over the past few months. 2008 has been fantastic to us...a new home, healthy happy children and the addition of our beautiful baby miss miss.

More then likely I will be sharing a lot of the little Miss. I of course cannot get enough of her and since she is a willing little model...[most of the time]...I have a very large vault of photos. As you will see in the last photos...even Diva's have their moments.

I hope you enjoy looking back as much as I do...

I have been a little scarce lately...it is that time of year. My days are spent chasing the little ones, all the while trying to get a large variety of things done. The nights are spent cleaning, wrapping and trying to figure out what on earth made me think I could pull off a party before Christmas? Maybe Mom is right...I am crazy!

I was hoping to post some photos of my older kids this week...but the eldest fell sick and we just could not seem to get it together. So I leave you with a little something of the wee ones...have you ever attempted a photo of a 6 month old baby and a 2.5 year old with ants in his pants?

For the photogs who wonder what all that chat is about Nikon's at high ISO's...well...here is a little example of the noise, and I was not even that high! Anyone want to get me a D700 for Christmas? hehe.

I arrived back to the wonderful reality of my little ones late Sunday night. It was fantastic to be home and I was far too excited to see the kids...[although I did restrain myself from waking them].

Montreal was beautiful! For those who have never been...it is most defiantly worth the trip. Although, I would suggest a little more than a day & a half of "actual" time in the city. We did not make it to Old Montreal other than for a dinner [amazing]. Thank you to our wonderful friends Stephan & Maud for the company and "quick" tour of the city. Hopefully they will now forgive me for any name misspelling and the lack of correct accent. I am afraid I did not become fluent in my very short trip...I did however have far too much fun!

I had hoped to get some photos, but honestly my camera hardly left the room. We were too busy rushing around to get in all that we could...that and it was FREEZING outside. Not one to post without a photo, I thought I would leave you with a little something I was able to grab of the young man in the house the day I left. He was not thrilled at the idea and had just woken from his nap, but I am happy to share as he is growing far too fast...

I am off to Montreal tomorrow for a non-business related vacation. Not really sure I would call it much of a vacation considering I depart Penticton 5:45pm Thursday and arrive in Montreal 9:00am Friday. Yikes. Oh well, I am sure it will be worth it. A little time to chill...child free time I might add! So wish I had more time to spend there and was able to do some form of a shoot...I have heard it is an amazing city!

As for the rollin' & teethin'...my girl of course. Two teeth and yet I was still holding out for this little lady to flip herself over...finally she has showed us that she is more then a diva baby who insists on being carried EVERYWHERE! I am so glad that she decided to show me her new skill before I left town...now thats timing...

So of course I must share something recent of the miss...

I am really trying to take these cloudy, rainy days to step back and have a good hard look at my business. I want to assess the direction that I would like to go and have everything so organized that I can move forward with bookings without a second thought!

However...while doing this...

I am missing my camera!

She is just sitting here, beside my desk begging me to get out. Okay, maybe she cant talk, but I know what she is thinking. So in my best efforts to keep her happy, I decided to humor her and have a mini shoot with the lovely Miss I in my favorite place. I have a feeling this is going to be a very frequent occurrence over these cold, [sitting at my desk] months.

I find that I often get so involved in my business edits, that the family stuff falls down the list. It does happen...it just takes a little longer then I would like!

I recently got around to the birthday party of Miss H...she turned 10 this past summer and we had a fantastic little spa party at home for her and a few friends. It was planned in 24 hours...yup, I am one crazy lady. Thanks to Michele for helping me pull it off and to all the girls for being able to make it on such short notice.

We love you Miss H, you are an amazing and beautiful young lady. Your love for the world, beautiful and free spirit are what makes you a truly unique gift in our lives and to this planet. We know you are destined to do amazing things...

I was trying to hold out until my new logo was designed...but lets be honest, I have never been one for patience!

For those who follow the blog religiously [a girl can hope]...you may already know that I have been thinking of a name change...for those who do not follow [bookmark it...hehe] SURPRISE! This is something I have flipped flopped about for far too long and I finally came to the decision that it was to be done. If I kept bringing it up, then I guess that is the way it is meant to be.

There is nothing I love more (in photography that is), than amazing light. I totally lucked out when we built our new home with ONE room...and it happens to be our master bedroom. I LOVE the light in this room.

For those who often ask about my "in home" photos...here are the details on the location...

My master bedroom has 2 large west facing windows. Each is over 5ft wide and about 4ft tall. They are separated by about a 1ft gap. I also have a door with glass (south facing) and another window (south facing) about 3ft. The light has me wanting my camera out most of the day to shoot whatever/whoever I can get my hands on...now if only I could convince my husband that i needed the king size bed on wheels so that I could move it as required. ha.

Well some of you may have figured out by now whose belly photo I shared yesterday. For those who didnt...

It is my good friend and fellow photographer Michele! I was able to grab a few belly shots while we were out for her family photos...and I love them. As for the family photos, talk about a challenge. I find it tough shooting when another photographer is in front of the camera...as I of course want to impress and be sure that I am seeing her vision as well. I am thrilled with the ones that I was able to get and hope that Michele is equally impressed...

Thanks all for trusting your family photos to me. I had a great time even with the lights struggles, a little girl who wanted her BP treats and goofy smiles (hehe). I know that I had the easy side as photographing my family of 6 will be the true challenge!

Well I am sure that many of you may believe I am slightly crazy, I honestly have a plan...it just changes from day to day. ha. Are you may have noticed, the logo is again gone...what? Yes I know, I just debuted a new one and although in the moment I had thought I was happy with it...well I obviously was not.

So what is the answer??

Its time to admit that although I may have a lot of photoshop knowledge, I fall short in the area of logo design. I have decided to get some assistance in the design department and will be hiring someone to design a logo for me. In the meantime I will be using a font and that will have to do. So over the next few months watch for a new look...I can hardly wait...

Michele was kind enough to give me a call and ask me to come along for her most recent shoot. Since I have zero issues playing "donkey" I was happy to tag along and even able to get some fantastic shots! So thank you Michele.

As for our beautiful model. She is due in a few weeks and looks absolutely stunning. Talk about the perfect baby belly...what a beautiful mommy to be. Yes her belly is truly that perfect! Sigh. Okay, maybe I have a touch of envy...hehe. Thank you mom-to-be for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of your session. A few more from our little shoot last night. I have been working tonight, so I selected a quick few that I had the chance to edit last night. I must say, both Michele and I sure are fortunate to have such wonderful little ones. Not only are they adorable [slight bias]...but they are even somewhat co-operative. Hey, you can get a wee one to do a lot for the promise of jellybeans [in Si's case] and "monies" [in Nevaeh's]. Whatever it takes!

I hope that you dont get too bored of these...I have more that I know I am going to love!

On a side note...I know Mama thinks she looks a little stunned in the one of miss "N" solo...but I adore how she looks so angelic! Its art...its subjective...hehe.

Maybe one day! As of right now, getting these two near each other can be quite a challenge. Getting them together and looking at the camera...good luck. Although, I may have one or two that can pass...we will see.

Michele and I took the kiddies out to Summerland this evening and let them run around for photo ops. The light was not our best friend, although beautiful...we were chasing it. Luckily, Michele knew where to drag us all and I believe I was able to get quite a few favs. Tonight I will share one that makes my heart melt. Just a moment of peace...who knows, maybe one day it will be love. Don't worry...I will raise him right!

mike + robyn :: wedding

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Mike + Robyn's Wedding. They were married at Linden Gardens in Kaleden and I must say, everything about the day was beautiful. Not only was the location stunning, but the love that these two share for each other and their beautiful daughter is inspiring.

Mike + Robyn it was an honor to be part of your perfect day and the love that you so obviously have for one another.

I have been so busy with work [weddings, new logo, re-vamping the blog...the list goes on] and daily life that I have neglected to share any new photos of my favorite models. Of course, those would be my kiddies! They are way down the line in the way of processing, but I had to post something of the miss as she is growing way too fast...

Michele and I are hoping to head out to Summerland this week and have a shoot with the kids, so I will have loads to share and get caught up on.

Sorry the blog is looking like a bit of a mess at the moment! I am working on getting my photos to display larger (thank you to my husband for being such a brainiac)...but in the meantime it is making previous posts look like a bit of a disaster. I will hopefully have things cleaned up in the next few days...

dave + ali :: wedding

When first meeting a client, we never really know what to expect. Everyone is unique in their love story! Our first meeting was with a solo Ali and although Dave was not present, we were given a good sense of who he was from the way Ali beamed when she spoke of him. A second meeting only confirmed what we already knew. When we met with both Dave + Ali just before the big day, it was easy to see the deep love that they shared.

Thank you Dave + Ali for allowing us to be a part of your special day. Thank you for your patience in the heat and your outgoing personalities. We had a fantastic time!

When I received a phone call from Michele [my lovely "ex" partner], I knew this was a session I could not miss. She was contacted via the internet and was excited to find out that they were looking for a Trash the Dress Session [TTD]. Now, often times this is an idea that is tossed around by a couple, but never comes to be. This time around, we quickly learned that they fully intended to take things all the way...

Thank you Michele for inviting me to snap some shots during your session and of course a huge thanks to Ryan + Sharelle who were just way too much fun and were truly up for anything. I hope that you enjoy your images as much as I enjoyed taking them.

All the things I was looking for when I was designing my new logo...

Its been a long work in progress but I am loving the new look. It is simple and clean with a bright, sunny feel that brings a smile to my face. Don't get me wrong, I loved the last logo as well...but this is just more "me".

I have focused on one image for my header...I am going to go with this idea for a while. I intend to showcase a photo from a session and will likely be switching things up between 2 weeks and 1 month. To debut the new logo I chose Miss "A" from a recent session. She is just way too precious and I am very grateful to our friends for allowing me to photograph their little beauty.

So bookmark and keep checking as I have some sessions in the works and will be posting more later today.

Tomorrow I am off to photograph a wedding and can hardly wait to share...

time for a change?

I am flip flopping these days with many things. Must be all that has been going on in our life over the past year. As far as how that effects my business...I have considered going to my personal name for business purposes, but after much thought I will be sticking with Indigo Six. I love the name and feel that it continues to represent my business appropriatly.

So, I am thinking a re-vamp. I feel as if I am re-vamping other areas of my life...or at least things are changing. A new house, new baby...so why not a new look? So I have been working on a new look. Here is a little something to give you an idea of where I am going...

I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful little lady a few days ago. She is the newborn daughter of our friends Cliff & Carol and was welcomed by her equally adorable big sister Miss "C" (who I must take photos of in the near future)...she is way too precious.

Thank you for allowing me to capture your amazing little girl while she was still tiny. I look forward to watching your young girls grow into beautiful young ladies...

Well I may be loaded with fantastic excuses...

A move.

A new baby.

A high maintenance toddler.

I do know I still could find a few moments to keep things up to date. Well, here they are. My few moments that is. Obviously my "professional" life has been a little slow lately, yes mainly due to my above excuses.

Things will pick up again shortly as I have a few weddings in the upcoming months and as things settle here I am sure I will be making better use of my camera....

Oh how I love this amazing little person that has entered our lives. She is so young, yet is already all things girl. Sweet, strong, difficult (I can say that...hehe), beautiful, cuddly...the list goes on...

She melts my heart every time I look at her sweet little face and can bring tears to my eyes simply by sharing a few of her own.

Baby miss, you have changed our lives forever.

I had the pleasure of assisting Michele of Michele Dyson Photographer at a wedding recently...and although I was only able to attend for a short while, I was thrilled to be a small part of such a special day.

The wedding was elegant and beautiful! Although it was an intimate affair, no detail was missed thanks to Michelle Provencher of Cin Cin Events. It was stunning! Oh and the dress...the dress left me speechless. You will of course see for yourself when you scroll down.

In order to claim that I am keeping you updated, I would assume a post would be required on a more frequent basis. Please bare with me...I am determined to get back in the swing of things. Adding the newest addition to our family sure has me trying to find balance again, I will get there...it might just take a few months! On top of having a 3 week old & toddler to chase on a daily basis...we are moving this weekend. Ahhh. Lots going on. Oh and I am assisting Michele at a wedding tomorrow which should be fun. Will be interesting to be back at "work".

Since I was starting to feel a little better yesterday, I pulled out the camera for a quick shoot with miss isla! Its been a while since I did much of anything with the camera, so I was happy to have it back in my hands...and double happy with some of the shots I was able to get.

Having a little model in the house that cannot complain about the camera constantly in her face is going to be way too much fun! Oh this poor girl does not know what she is in for...

We have officially become a family of SIX...yes...SIX! It is funny to say that out loud, something we are going to have to get used to.

Isla Hanna Claire was welcomed into the world May 27th @ 8:14am weighing a perfect 7lbs 13ozs & 21 inches long. She is one happy & healthy little lady.

I was fortunate enough to have my fantastic friend come up to the hospital and not only spoil me with gifts and visits...but also take this fantastic photos of our newest addition. Thank you Michele!

I see its been more then a few days since I made a post. Please bare with me as I am currently within the one week mark of having a baby. Okay...excuses excuses...but I figure its a pretty decent one!

I have not been doing any photography for the past week or so. I find I only get frustrated at not being able to get in the position I want or to the location I desire...so I am taking a bit of a breather until the dust settles.

For those that do not know, not only am I set to have baby arrive in less then one week (Tuesday will be the final day if baby does not appear on its own), but I am also in the midst of building a home and getting set to move for mid June. In case it was ever in question, I am officially CRAZY!
